Yes, the title is confusing. Just wait until you read this post!
Check out was at 12 so we dug ourselves out of bed to pack and leave so we could book a hotel for the next few nights. Turns out we had access to free Internet the entire time (epic sigh!). We booked a hotel that was relatively close and cheap for the next three nights – the cultural hotel. Seemed pretty fair.
Once we packed up and got as much as we could organized, we checked out and made our way to Farrer Park (next to a suburb known as Little India). The likeness to what we saw in Mumbai is uncanny. Shops and buildings are aged and tightly packed together, the people in this district are mostly Indian and there’s a cut & curry place on the corner. If it weren’t for the surveillance everywhere and the lack of dust and pollution, one would think we were back in Mumbai.
The Cultural Hotel can be described as having “lots of character”. It was intensely busy when we checked in (about 1pm) and the walls and even the desk was carved in what appeared to be Thai designs of dragons, lions and merlions/dragons with fish tales. We checked in and went to our room. We noticed that we couldn’t get internet access from our room but decided to leave the worry for later. To Funan!
We spent hours at the DigitaLife centre – looking at cameras (Sony NEX5n – all of Singapore has sold out apparently), laptops and general everything. I bought a watch so I could finally have the time on my wrist. We had lunch at a Pizza Hut restaurant, remember those? The pizza was great! And we had these interesting drinks with fruit syrup and chunks of fruit in it. Chris is hoping to spend less money on things now though.
We were so exhausted so we decided to have a nap back in our room. We got up at 8.30pm and decided we needed some food. After walking around the block we came to a Thai-Chinese place which was reasonably priced and we had a huge scrumptious meal, and then went back to our room. Chris did some uni work and I drifted back to sleep. It was a good day!
