Or as the Dutch would say, dag seven. This was a pretty exciting day. We went back to the Funan Digitalife centre and Chris got his pride a joy – a digital SLR, the Sony NEX-5n. It’s pretty awesome. I’m jealous.
We then decided that we were going to go to the Marina Bay ArtScience Gallery. We initially intended to see the general exhibition but stumbled (and accidentally bought tickets for) the Titanic Exhibition. This was one of the most eye-opening and amazing experiences. There were over 500 artifacts that have been recovered from the ocean floor (at 3.6km below the Atlantic Ocean). There were all sorts of artifacts, ranging from personal items like combs and leather belts to pieces from the ocean liner itself such as fittings, portholes and tiles.
The exhibition was creatively displayed as we walked through from the conception of the giant ocean liner to boarding (where the hallways were replicated) to a giant block of ice that we got to touch to get an idea of how cold it would have been. When we first started viewing the exhibition, we were given two tickets with actual passengers’ names on them. Chris’s (Jacques Heath Futrelle) perished on the ship, while mine (Mrs Ethil Clarke and husband Edward Beane) were saved.
Unfortunately we couldn’t take any photos of the exhibition, but we managed to take a lot of photos of the actual ArtScience gallery and surrounds. We had a fantastic day!
After about 45 minutes on the phone I have managed to change your flight back from Singapore at no cost. The lovely fellow from Qantas (Michael) waived the fee to change the booking ($80) and you will now have a stopover in Sydney. With no stopover in Sydney it was going to cost me $301.10. It will mean that you get into Brisbane about 9am on the 23rd February. He had to cancel your booking from Mumbai because if you don’t get on the flight from Mumbai the whole flight is cancelled. He will email you the changes but if you go onto the Qantas website and use your booking reference you will notice the change in flight details. If you need to contact Qantas in Singapore the telephone number is (65) 64157373. You owe me big time baby.
