Bali Day Two – The Shopping Day

The day started off with a fantastic warm shower and the buffet breakfast overlooking the ocean at our hotel. Courtesy of course!

We then took a taxi through the scary looking markets. There were people everywhere on mopeds and scooters. The amount of horning can be similar to India, but not as bad. There seems to be a need to horn to notify someone that you’re there, rather than to get out of the way.

Andrea then saw a money changer and stopped the taxi and ran out to change her money. Then she came back and grabbed Chantal so that we could get a sim card for Chantal’s phone. Chris freaked out after a while (about 10 minutes) because here Chris was with a 10 year old in the car and a short redhead with a pregnant woman in an unknown shop. Turns out everything was okay and we even got a good rate to change our money.

We then took the long way to Matahari Galeria via this expensive direct factory outlet. We bought a couple pieces of clothing but we didn’t know what was cheap around here. Chris got some pants while Chantal got some tops. Exciting stuff right…There was more of this at the Galeria. We don’t think you need to hear about it.

We then made our way back to the “scary markets.” Here, bartering is king! Chris got some headphones and sunglasses cheap after bartering (he loved it!). Chantal got a tree of life table decoration (a shout-out to Anne as it looks Nordic) and some jewellery.

We had some fish and chips by the pool and a drink. That’s about it.
