Singapore Day One – Changi to Novotel

We landed in Singapore at 8am, utterly exhausted but excited. After going through security and customs, we immediately logged into the free wifi and skyped all of our loved ones. In our delusional state of hunger and exhaustion, we were thoroughly amused by a giant Merlion (Chris will attach photos soon of it…it’s so cute!).

We had a taste of our first international McDonalds. I had hot cakes and Chris had the Deluxe Breakfast (typical). After getting lost numerous times in the airport, we found the MRT (massive rapid transport….really really fast train) and proceeded to continue our journey to the Novotel in Clarke Quay (curtesy of Chris’ amazing family).

The contrast of Singapore from Mumbai shocked me. Here was a place that was friendly, clean and bright. There was no dust or pollution and people would smile at us everywhere we went. We checked in, dumped our luggage in the room and lined up for a shower. It was glorious. We then went for a short walk around to Central (a shopping complex nearby) and came back to have a nap.

We slept from 4.30pm on Friday to 9am Saturday- we must have needed it!
